Some products are exciting when they are opened and quickly become predictable. We pay attention to what brings a player back. In a strategy game, it may be a different decision path. In a puzzle, it may be a new level of difficulty. In construction and model play, it may be the satisfaction of improving technique or taking on a more detailed build.

Curation also means saying no. We try to avoid products whose excitement depends mainly on excess, noise or presentation while the actual play experience remains thin.

Our categories cover very different kinds of play. These answers explain how we think about age, learning, complexity and the role of educational value.
No. We do not require every product to teach a formal subject. We do look for meaningful engagement. A strategy game can encourage planning, a model kit can develop patience and precision, and an outdoor game can reward coordination without needing to feel like a lesson.
Age is one useful signal, but it is not the only one. Experience, interest, patience and preferred challenge style all affect whether a product feels right. We think of age guidance as a starting point rather than a rigid boundary.
